Warsaw, Indiana, May 16, 2017 — WishBone Medical, Inc., a new pediatric orthopedic company, announced that Mary Wetzel has taken on the role of Chief Operating Officer. Wetzel is the former president, co-founder, and board member of TekModo Industries, Inc., an Elkhart, Indiana based corporation listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange. Wetzel will be responsible for keeping WishBone Medical focused on being an industry leader in the Pediatric Orthopedic market by providing proprietary products through a capital efficient business model.
Wetzel will manage the day to day activities at WishBone Medical, including product development, manufacturing, and quality systems. Wetzel has an extensive operational, financial, marketing, and technical background from her experience in the automotive and recreational vehicle industries.
During her time at General Motors, Wetzel developed and incorporated manufacturing changes to more than 300,000 vehicles annually to bring them up to production standards. While at Chrysler, she headed Chrysler’s multi-billion dollar regional incentive programs and was Senior Manager for Business Management and Market Intelligence, working directly with the Dealers to improve their profitability. And as President of TekModo Industries, Ms. Wetzel set up the supply chain and manufacturing operations to develop the first all composite trailer for the RV industry.
“Having been in the field of operations and marketing for quite some time, I’m excited to bring my level of expertise to WishBone. Not only to ensure that products are developed and produced efficiently, but also with the highest quality standards. It is my goal to make sure that every product we offer gets into the hands of surgeons quickly so they can provide the best care possible to their patients,” said Mary Wetzel, COO of WishBone Medical.
WishBone Medical, Inc. was recently founded by Nick A. Deeter. In 2006, Deeter started OrthoPediatrics because he saw an unmet need in the pediatric orthopedic space. Nick felt the standards for treatment in children were unacceptable and that the use of adult medical devices in these children could not continue. These patients needed medical devices that were designed for their smaller anatomy and unique needs. Nick worked with engineers and surgeons to develop products that could meet the needs of growing children.
CEO Nick Deeter commented, “Mary will be a tremendous asset to WishBone. Her quality standards are second to none and I am positive that the products that WishBone develops and commercializes will be of the highest quality in the marketplace. Mary’s automotive background brings to WishBone a capital efficient inventory model that has never been seen in orthopedics. She has already saved the Company millions of dollars.”
Wetzel was inducted into the Automotive Hall of Fame in 2004, receiving the Young Leadership and Excellence Award in recognition of her significant contributions to the automotive industry. She holds a degree in Business Management and Automotive Marketing from Northwood University.
WishBone Medical is developing new and innovative products that will address the needs of children such as, implants that correct deformities of long bones, sports related injuries, foot and ankle deformities, trauma, spinal and thoracic deformities, biologics, and preventative body armor.
