WishBone Medical, Inc. Announces the Addition of Rob Seewald as Corporate Chaplain

Warsaw, Indiana, April 27, 2017 — WishBone Medical, Inc., a new pediatric orthopedic company in Warsaw, IN, announced the appointment of Rob Seewald as their Corporate Chaplain. WishBone Medical is focused on being an industry leader in the Pediatric Orthopedic market by providing proprietary products through a capital efficient business model.

Seewald, an ordained United Methodist pastor of 23 years, will work closely with staff members to deal with difficulties they may be facing in life.

“It’s important to me that we maintain a healthy work/life balance at WishBone. My goal is to provide a safe environment where employees, including the leadership of WishBone, can come and share with me any challenges they may be facing in life. We can then work together to develop a plan that helps them address those issues and get back to living the life they were meant to live,” said Seewald.

Seewald also serves as pastor of Leesburg and Bourbon First United Methodist churches. For the past five years has served as an Associate District Superintendent with the United Methodist Church denomination. For the past sixteen years, he has held leadership positions in the Kosciusko County 4-H program.

CEO Nick Deeter commented, “The role of Corporate Chaplain is vital to our company. WishBone Medical has established a culture and cause around helping children with orthopedic disorders.  I feel that if you are putting metal implants into children, you need a moral compass as part of the decision making process.  Pastor Seewald is in all major meetings and new employee interviews to make sure we stay true to our purpose.”

WishBone Medical, Inc. was recently founded by Nick A. Deeter. In 2006, Deeter started another pediatric company because he saw an unmet need in the pediatric orthopedic space. Deeter felt the standards for treatment in children were unacceptable and that the use of adult medical devices in these children could not continue. These patients needed medical devices that were designed for their smaller anatomy and unique needs. Deeter worked with engineers and surgeons to develop products that could meet the needs of growing children.

Seewald further commented, “My wife and I both love to invest in the lives of people. I look forward to seeing how I can serve the WishBone team and impact the success of this company.”

Stutzman Sees WishBone As Good Fit

How did former Congressman Marlin Stutzman end up as the president of a new orthopedic company in Warsaw?

The answer to the question starts with Howe, the small town where Stutzman resides. It’s also the home of Howe Military Academy where Nick Deeter serves on the board of trustees and where one of his sons studied.

Deeter, the founder of several orthopedic companies, and Stutzman became friends in part over their work together at Howe.

The convergence of opportunities began last spring when Stutzman, a three-term 3rd District Republican Congressman, lost in his primary race for U.S. Senate to Todd Young.

Stutzman said he was driving to Washington, D.C., last fall when he got a text from Deeter who alluded to a new company he was launching called WishBone Medical.

“Right away, I kind of knew what he wanted to do because the name of it,” Stutzman said.
“I had other opportunities to look at, but this one here just seemed like the right fit for our family,” Stutzman said. “The cause here – to help children – makes you feel really good about what you do. When you go home at the end of a day and you’re able to help children, it’s a good feeling.”

Finally…another pediatric orthopedic company! WishBone Medical, Inc. has just opened in Warsaw, Indiana.

“WishBone Medical is committed to providing anatomically-appropriate innovative implants and instruments in sterile-packed, single-use, disposable kits to surgeons that fix orthopedic problems in kids. These sterile kits will focus on minimizing disease, preventing infection, reducing overall costs for our customers and achieving the best outcomes for children who are still growing; because kids are not just little adults,” said Nick Deeter, founder and chairman of the Board and CEO of WishBone Medical, in the January 17, 2017 news release.

As indicated in the news release, “In 2006, Nick Deeter started OrthoPediatrics because he saw an unmet need in the pediatric orthopedic space. Nick felt the standards for treatment in children were unacceptable and that the use of adult medical devices in these children could not continue. These patients needed medical devices that were designed for their smaller anatomy and unique needs. Warsaw Entrepreneur Expands Mission to Make Kid-Size Implants

By Kylie Veleta, Special Projects Reporter, Inside Indiana Business

Children with orthopedic conditions such as in-toeing (“pigeon toes”), those suffering a trauma like a car accident and kids with Cerebral Palsy are being ignored, says an orthopedic leader in Warsaw. Entrepreneur Nick Deeter says orthopedic surgeons are forced “to sort of MacGyver their way through these surgeries and piece kids back together” by cutting or bending adult implants to their smaller frames. Children get an altered adult implant about 95 percent of the time, says Deeter, but he plans to “revolutionize” the industry by catering to kids with his newest company, WishBone Medical.

The Warsaw-based startup isn’t Deeter’s first foray in pediatric orthopedics; he founded Warsaw-based OrthoPediatrics Corp.—also focused on making implants for children—about a decade ago. Now considered an industry leader in pediatric orthopedics, the company is preparing for an initial public offering.

Marlin Stutzman, Former U.S. Congressman, Named President of WishBone Medical, Inc.

Warsaw, Indiana, January 31, 2017 — WishBone Medical, Inc., a new pediatric orthopedic company, announced that Marlin Stutzman, a former U.S. Congressman, will be taking on the role as President. WishBone Medical is focused on being an industry leader in the Pediatric Orthopedic market by providing proprietary products through a capital efficient business model.

Stutzman took the office of U.S. Congressman office in November 2010 and quickly emerged as an effective leader for Northeast Indiana. Stutzman was a member of the Budget Committee with Chairman Tom Price, the House Financial Services Committee with Chairman Jeb Henserling, the Dean of Indiana’s Republican delegation in the House, and the founding chairman of the Republican Study Committee’s 2nd Amendment Initiative. Stutzman served the needs of Hoosier families who call Indiana’s Third Congressional District home.

“As a long-time local businessman, as well as a U.S. Congressman for the past 6 years, I am looking forward to helping children and families recover from traumatic events or correct congenital disorders. Today’s technology in the medical field is exciting and moving forward in ways we never imagined. I look forward to working with Wishbone Medical to help families and children enjoy life with the help of WishBone’s products and services,” said Marlin Stutzman, President of WishBone Medical.

WishBone Medical, Inc. was recently founded by Nick A. Deeter. In 2006, Deeter started OrthoPediatrics because he saw an unmet need in the pediatric orthopedic space. Nick felt the standards for treatment in children were unacceptable and that the use of adult medical devices in these children could not continue. These patients needed medical devices that were designed for their smaller anatomy and unique needs. Nick worked with engineers and surgeons to develop products that could meet the needs of growing children.

“This next year I look forward to working with this great team that CEO Nick Deeter has assembled. Building relationships in the industry within the company and with families that need WishBone’s help is what I’ll be focused on as we launch this exciting new company. I come from a large family and my parents were foster parents when I was growing up, we have always had a deep love for children and life. WishBone Medical follows that same passion of helping children get back to good health and back on their feet enjoying life,” commented Stutzman.

CEO Nick Deeter commented, “We are thrilled to have Marlin on the team. His passion and drive for what we are doing and the kids we are committed to helping is unmatched. I truly believe that his experience as a U.S. Congressman will help WishBone Medical take a different approach to this industry. Exciting things to come for sure.”

New Pediatric Orthopedic Company Opens in Warsaw, Indiana

Warsaw, Indiana, January 17, 2017 — WishBone Medical, Inc., a new pediatric orthopedic company has officially announced they are opening in Warsaw, IN. WishBone Medical is focused on being an industry leader in the Pediatric Orthopedic market by providing proprietary products through a capital efficient business model.

“WishBone Medical is committed to providing anatomically-appropriate innovative implants and instruments in sterile-packed, single-use, disposable kits to surgeons that fix orthopedic problems in kids.  These sterile kits will focus on minimizing disease, preventing infection, reducing overall costs for our customers and achieving the best outcomes for children who are still growing; because kids are not just little adults,” said Nick Deeter, Chairman of the Board and CEO of WishBone Medical.

These patients needed medical devices that were designed for their smaller anatomy and unique needs. Nick worked with engineers and surgeons to develop products that could meet the needs of growing children.

“The pediatric orthopedic market is large ($1.4 billion globally) and growing at 10% per year.  Unfortunately for the patient, 95% of the orthopedic implants going into children today are not specifically designed for them. Ten years ago when I started OrthoPediatrics, I felt it was unacceptable for a child to get an adult device that was bent, cut, and altered just to try and make it fit while ignoring the growth plates and possibly causing more harm.  The large orthopedic companies ignore the pediatric market and focus solely on the adult market. There is still a lot of work to be done on behalf of our kids,” added Deeter.

WishBone Medical is developing new and innovative products that will address the needs of children such as, implants that correct deformities of long bones, sports related injuries, foot and ankle deformities, trauma, spinal and thoracic deformities, biologics, and preventative body armor.
